POSITION TITLE:  Police Officer

JOB DESCRIPTION

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Preventive patrol of assigned areas; respond to and handle calls for police service; enforce state and municipal traffic and criminal laws; investigate criminal activity; input computerized police reports; make arrest when appropriate; assist the general public; participate in community problem solving with area residents; mediate disputes between citizens; facilitate community meetings; testify in criminal court proceedings; attend scheduled training; work rotating shift schedules; and perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Requires high school diploma or equivalent; an Associateís degree or two years of college coursework is desired but not required. Must be 20 years of age upon date of initial appointment. Must be (able to):  (1) pass a civil service examination testing before beginning work in this class; (2) successfully complete a Police Academy and a POST certification test and obtain certification upon graduation from academy; (3) eligible for and obtain POST certification in Louisiana; (4) learn new concepts and methods of law enforcement; (5) qualify with department approved firearms; (6) safely drive a police car; (7) effect the physical arrest of a violent offender; (8) react quickly and calmly in emergency/high stress situations; (9) maintain effective working relationships with employees; (10) interact with the public in a tactful and courteous manner; (11) work in a team environment or independently; (12) use standard  office equipment, computer equipment and software, including word processing, data base management and electronic mail; (13) pass a medical examination prepared and administered by the Appointing Authority, which is designed to demonstrate good health and physical fitness sufficient to perform the essential functions, with or without accommodation, after an offer of employment, but before beginning work in this class; (14) pass a background check and drug test, showing no felony arrests, convictions or drug use; and (15) be insured under the Cityís auto insurance policy. Must provide and maintain:  (1) proof of legal authorization of employment in the United States, and (2) a current valid Louisiana driverís license.

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

JOB TITLE:  Collection Clerk                                                           DEPARTMENT:  Utilities

REPORTS TO:  Utility Billing Supervisor                                       FSLA:  Non-Exempt

GENERAL SUMMARY:        

Maintains water/sewer utility accounts; directs calls and visitors to appropriate departments and provides clerical support for the Utility Billing Supervisor.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in city and department attendance policies and procedure.

Responsible for water/sewer utility billing, preparation of prebilling estimates, printing and mailing all utility bills and running and distributing post-billing reports.

Creates new utility accounts and sets up billing records in computer and in files, handles complaints and answers customer questions on utility billing.

Prepares work orders for Meter Tech.  Receives payments, balances cash drawers and customer payments and writes receipts.  Answers telephone and directs calls. Receives and directs visitors.  Provides clerical support including the filing of documents for Utility Billing Supervisor

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

High School graduate of Formal/informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.

Post High School secretarial training, computer training and a minimum of one year office experience preferred.

Possession of a valid Louisiana driverís license is required, due to a Financial Background check will be administered.

Ability to make moderately complex arithmetic computations rapidly and accurately.

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.

Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Skill in the of standard office equipment and computer programs used in area of work assignment.

Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test.
