The City of Franklin will host its Christmas Parade and Lamp-Lighting Ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011. Line-up begins at 5:30 p.m. on the corner of Jackson and Main, and the parade begins at 6:00 p.m. The lamp-lighting ceremony will begin once the parade reaches the Courthouse Square. All residents, schools, community organizations, church societies, fraternities, sororities, veterans associations and nonprofit organizations are encouraged to participate. Golf cart owners are encouraged to register and decorate their carts and drive them in the parade.

7th Annual Black Bear & Birding Festival
The Bayou Teche Black Bear & Birding Commitee and the St. Mary Parish Chamber of Commerce are sponsoring Artist Guild Unlimited, Inc. to host an Art and Non-professional Photography contest and sale at the Lamppost on 737 Main St. from April 16-18, 2010. The professional photographer Jim Bryon will be judging the contest.

Community Calendar Board
The community calendar board on Main St. has come under the safekeeping of the City of Franklin. As such, the City of Franklin is allowing public access to the board to promote community-wide functions for public benefit.

Main Street Merchant Meeting
The first Main St. Merchant meeting is to be held on February 23rd, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall. The fate of the Main Street program and the results of the business survey wil be discussed. The state Interior Design representative from the Main St. program will be here to discuss window merchandising.
